Bloomington is a coming-of-age drama about a former child actressattending college in search of independence and who ends up becomingromantically involved with a female professor. Their relationshipthrives until an opportunity to return to acting forces her to makelife-altering decisions.
   JACKIE KIRK, a 22 year-old ex-television childactress arrives in the mid-west all the way from California. She isready to explore new options and exercise a sense of independence thathad thus far been lacking in her life. Her greatest wish is to blend inwith her peers which proves to be difficult at times as she fields theendless parade of stares and questions about Neptune 26, the popularsci-fi show she was once a part of. Jackie has not been away from herfamily since the show ended four years prior. Although she is notexactly close to her parents, being alone for the first time isnonetheless an overwhelming experience. During apsychology department mixer Jackie meets CATHERINE STARK, a mysteriousteacher in her early thirties with an infamous lady-killer reputation.In spite of warnings she received from other students, Jackie falls forCatherines charm and the two outsiders begin an instantly intenserelationship.
  Through the course of the schoolyear their bond grows stronger and more personal until suddenly Jackieis faced with the chance to audition for a feature film version of hernow defunct television show. The prospect of attempting a comeback intothe ultra-competitive world of show business is at first daunting toJackie but after much soul searching she decides to accept thechallenge. Armed with renewed self-confidence and a few new insightsshe picked up courtesy of her psych studies, Jackie decides to give ither all and fight to reclaim her old role.
  However,her possible return to the spotlight quickly turns into a life-lessonof its own for both student and teacher. Catherine finds that herillicit behavior, once mostly unnoticed, is now attracting unwantedattention and therefore putting her job security in jeopardy. As forJackie, she finds that discovering her lifes passion and charting herown course might also mean having to say goodbye to her first true love.
